Early Childhood Music is a singing-based program of play-filled music lessons. In small classes we enjoy songs, rhymes and games that nurture your child's musical skills and sensitivity to the expressiveness of music. Lessons are offered in Miss Nancy's home studio in Leamington and in daycare settings. Classes are available for children Birth to Age 6.
These classes are designed as a place where a child and his/her parent (or grandparent or caregiver) can share music-making together. They are mixed-age classes that include songs and activities that work for the youngest babies up the confident pre-schooler. Families often come with 2 siblings. Early Childhood Music classes provide an opportunity for you to attend a weekly 35 minute lesson where we sing, move and enjoy music together, and then to take these same songs home where they can be enjoyed again and again.
Classes run for 9 weeks, with 4 sessions per year. Check the ‘Class times/Fees/Registration’ to find out about the next available session.
In these non-parented classes children build musical skills and knowledge over the course of 30 weeks from September to May. It is an opportunity to maximize the musical learning that can take place for children in these early years.
In the first few months we learn a large repertoire of songs with the accompanying games. As the year progresses we analyse these songs to discover the beat, rhythm, meter, phrases, form, and melody shape and learn to read and write music.
Classes run for 60 minutes each week for 30 weeks from September to May. Check the ‘Class times/Fees/Registration’ to find out days and times the classes are offered.
